You cannot hide.

What you feel now is being displayed in this moment for all to see.

Your history and reaction to what you are reading is showing up right now in your body language.

The body holds no secrets. It is transparent, truthful, and authentic, and seeking freedom to be heard and seen.

The Journey to Consciousness Program provides the training, skills, and tools to respond to body language.

“When working as a therapist 25 years ago, I discovered that the key to my clients realizing their health goals was by following their body language and then creating questions from their presented body language. I called this technique BodySpeak.

I later discovered that BodySpeak could be successfully adapted to any conversation –whether personal or business. After taking my courses, couples began using BodySpeak to deepen intimacy, parents to connect with their children, dating couples to have authentic conversations on a first date.

As a business tool, the ability to observe body language has proven to be ideal for job interviewing, patient or client assessment, improved customer service, and classroom teaching – to name a few applications ”
– Pietro Abela, ARC Bodywork Therapist, Creator of BodySpeak, and Founder of The ARC Institute.

Use BodySpeak as an occasional adjunct to your health modality, customer service, teaching profession, or for improved family or social communication.

Or:

Learn to be a practitioner of ARC Bodywork Therapy: a unique, powerful health-care method which successfully combines BodySpeak with on-table bodywork.

The Journey to Consciousness program teaches:

2 thoughts on “An Invitation to The Journey to Consciousness Program – Beginning November 25 – 27th, 2016.

  1. Hi Pietro, I just had a question regarding body language or body speak. I had to give an essay about a book I had read – it was the original book on body language back in the late 70’s. It was for a communications course in college. The subject has always peaked my interest since then.

You mentioned the body holds no secrets. Just curious, would it be possible for people who have really studied body language to be able to “hide” how they are feeling from others with their own body language?

    • Thank you for your question, Bonnie. Yes, I believe it can be possible to hide some or most body language once you are conscious of it. It is also possible to change body language to emulate another side of a personality or character. When an actor represents another person, he or she will likely study the subject to familiarize himself with as many traits as possible, including body language. If the actor is successful, the audience watching the actor may become more convinced that they are watching the character depicted and forget they are observing someone representing that character. However, we can never totally mimic someone else because we can never fully replicate every aspect of the life they have lived. There will always be a body language give-away. We may succeed in hiding a body language trait for a time, but in time that trait will return and the body language representing that trait will re-appear, either partially or fully.

In my work as a therapist I have noticed for some time that rageaholics, or people with a rage addiction have two personalities: an outside personality and a hidden personality. The outside personality is invariably charming, pleasing, and helpful. However, in the family home this ‘charming’ person may be intolerant, bullying, and even abusive. In the home this same person may walk with humped shoulders, clenched fists, and a reddened face. You do not see his form of body language outside of the home. In any social situation, he has a straight back, his arms and hands move freely, and his face shows no redness. This person does not set out to change his body language – he may not even be aware of it – but he does make the effort to enhance his social nature, and this in turn is reflected in his social body language. If this same person, takes ownership of his rage issue, sees a therapist, and over the course of time, eliminates his capacity for rage. We may then see a more congruent body language, that is, his social body language is now reflected in his home. However, because rage is part of his history, he will carry a trait of that history within his body language. Maybe the tip of his nose remains forever red.

Most literature on body language seeks to provide interpretations for body language. The Journey to Consciousness Program which will be commencing on September 30th views a change in body language as reflective of a change in internal experience. If I feel calm, then suddenly I realize that the man sitting before me interviewing me for a job reminds me of a neighbour who scared me when I was a kid, even though I am intent on showing my best face and I will hide whatever weaknesses I know I have because I want this job, the insecurity I feel will show up as a change in my body language. In some way, my body language which represented a state of calmness will now incorporate my insecurity. It has to, because insecurity is now part of my current experience.

Now if the interviewer has noted my overall body language when I entered his office, that is he notes my demeanour, gait, my facial expressions, physical positioning, tone of voice and rhythm of speaking, he may notice that by the time I sit down in the chair, while my physical demeanour remains intact, the pitch of my voice is higher than when I introduced myself, and I am now speaking at a more rapid rate. He might notice that my foot is moving, whereas had he looked through the peep hole in the door of the waiting room, he may have seen that my foot was not moving.

An internal change in experience will always result in a change in body language. Notice that the voice is also included within the realm of body language.

In The Journey to Consciousness Program, less emphasis is placed on interpreting body language. Interpreting body language is unreliable. Just as we all possess accents and dialect influenced by our culture and upbringing, body language is likewise influenced by upbringing and culture and will contain an accent and dialect. Instead you will learn how to expand your listening capacity enabling you to compare the body language someone presents on first contact to the subsequent changes that inevitably will take place in presented body language as you continue to spend time with that person. Thus we are catering to an individual’s body language. This is important, because people will present one form of body language in one relationship, then will present another variation in another relationship. Consequently, there cannot be one set dictionary for body language.
The Journey to Consciousness Program teaches how to dialogue with presented body language: that is, how to ask questions which access the message and meaning behind the presented body language.

If you have expanded listening abilities which enable you to see changes in body language along with the skill to dialogue with presented body language, you possess the ability to know what truly lies beneath the presented story. This is an essential skill, whether you are a therapist, someone who conducts interviews, a teacher with students, a cashier or hairdresser regularly attending to the general public, someone who wants to have intimate conversation with a loved one, a parent wanting to understand her or his children on a deeper level, or someone who simply wants to experience meaningful conversations.

I hope this helps with your question, Bonnie. Feel free to write again should more questions arise for you. Thank you.
